If you’re looking for Halloween party food or want some Halloween snacks for kids, this easy Halloween snack board is perfect. And completely gluten free!

Of course if you’re not gluten free but have stumbled across this anyway, you can easily make these Halloween treats with the gluten-containing equivalents.

This is a great Halloween activity for kids. They’ll love constructing this board and you can make it as simple or spooky as you like.

And if you’re going all out and want more Halloween food ideas, why not have it has a spooky dessert after my Jack O’Lantern Peppers for dinner?

Or make it for a Halloween party alongside my Monster Cupcakes, Spooky Swiss Roll, my gory Broken Glass Cupcakes and these cute and spooky Gluten Free Monster Cookies.

How to make a Halloween snack board

The first thing to do when making a gluten free Halloween snack board is to construct all the different spooky treats you want to include.

I also recommend stocking up on some gluten free Halloween candy as well as some fresh fruit and berries to fill in any gaps.

Some tips to construct the best spooky Halloween snack board are:

  • Choose your board: You want to make sure you can completely fill the board with no blank spaces. A wooden or slate board work well for this.
  • Get ‘filler’ content: This means little items like M&Ms, Halloween sweets and spare pretzels you can dot around the main items, as well as berries and fruit.
  • Layering your snack board: Adding a small bowl of sweets can also help with layering the board up and creating a focal point in the centre of the snack board.
  • Get Creative! There is really no right or wrong when it comes to making a Halloween snack board. You can make it as neat or chaotic as you like.

How to make Pretzel Mummies and Ghouls

These cute gluten free pretzel mummies and ghouls are a great way to add to your Halloween snack board.

Essentially they’re just a white chocolate covered pretzel with a spooky twist – so tasty with the combination of sweet and salty.

They’re so simple to make. I used a pack of Schär gluten free pretzels and some white chocolate to make these, along with some edible eyes.

For the ghouls you’ll also need some green food colouring.

For the gluten free pretzel mummies:

Melt some white chocolate in 10-second intervals in the microwave (or in a bowl over a pan of boiling water).

Allow to cool a little, the dip in the pretzels one-at-a-time, using a fork to turn them so they’re completely covered in chocolate.

Lay the pretzels down (with some space between them) on a tray lined with a sheet of baking paper.

Once you’ve coated all of the gluten free pretzels, drizzle some extra white chocolate ‘bandages’ across the mummies and stick edible eyes on top.

Leave to set and your gluten free pretzel mummies are ready to eat!

For the gluten free pretzel ghouls:

You can make these following the steps below, but make sure you add some green food colouring to the melted white chocolate first.

I also don’t add the ‘bandages’ – simple stick the edible eyes on before leaving the green chocolate coating to set.

How to make gluten free witches’ fingers

These gluten free witches’ fingers are made using the Schär gluten free chocolate fingers and are so simple but so effective.

To make them, melt some white chocolate in 10-second intervals in the microwave or in a bowl over a pan of boiling water.

Stir a little green food colouring into the chocolate and once cool enough to handle, dip the gluten free chocolate fingers in.

Lay the dipped fingers on a lined baking try (with space between them so they don’t stick).

Stick a flaked almond on the end of each as a finger nail, and then leave to set before serving them up.

How to make Gluten free Jaffa Cake Bats

Did you know you can make super effective bats using gluten free Jaffa Cakes?

Simply pick a brand of Jaffa Cakes you love (this also works well with gluten free Oreos!) to make them.

Melt a little milk chocolate, which you’ll need as the ‘glue’ for the bats. You’ll also need some edible eyes.

To make the Jaffa Cake bats, cut one Jaffa Cake in half. Add a little melted chocolate along the cut edge and then press it, cut-edge-down, onto the top of the other Jaffa Cake.

Repeat this with the second half so you have two ‘wings’. They should hold in place with the melted chocolate.

Use a little extra melted chocolate to stick the edible eyes on and leave to set before adding to your Halloween snack board.

How to make Jaffa Cake Spiders

These easy Jaffa Cake spiders are similar to the bats, made using gluten free Jaffa Cakes.

Again, these would work with gluten free Oreos too. If you’d rather make Oreo spiders, you can do this in exactly the same way.

I used Matchmaker chocolates for the legs are all the flavours are gluten free.

To make these Jaffa Cake spiders, melt a little milk chocolate to use as ‘glue’.

Snap two Matchmakers into four even pieces, to make your eight legs total.

Use the melted chocolate to glue the ‘legs’ onto the gluten free Jaffa Cake, with four on each side.

You can also ‘glue’ some candy eyes onto the spiders with the melted chocolate too. Leave to set completely before adding to the board.

How to make Apple Monsters

Ok, let’s add a little fruit to this board to complement all of the chocolate, yea!?

These apple monsters are a classic addition to your Halloween snack board and are naturally gluten free.

To make them, quarter an apple into four wedges, removing the core.

Cut a small wedge from the centre of the outside edge, which will act as the mouth.

Half-filled the edges with peanut butter, and then use this to stick a row of mini marshmallow ‘teeth’ into the ‘mouth’.

Stick some edible eyes on using a little melted milk chocolate and you’ve got yourself some super cute and tasty apple monsters.

Other gluten free Halloween snack board treats

As well as making all these tasty Halloween treats, there are lots of other gluten free bits and pieces you can add to your board.

These help to fill out the board, filling in any gaps between the edible creations you’ve made.

You can also create layers – for example, I sat one of my Jaffa Cake Spiders on top of a bowl of M&Ms to make it stand out from the rest.

Ideas of other gluten free Halloween snacks include:

  • Any leftover gluten free pretzels
  • Leftover chocolate fingers or Matchmakers
  • Candy corn (in the US)
  • Chocolate chips or mini chocolate chips
  • Popcorn (check it’s gluten free, most are)
  • M&Ms or peanut M&Ms
  • Any Halloween-themed jelly sweets which are gluten free
  • Any Halloween-themed marshmallows which are gluten free
  • Blueberries or grapes
  • Tangerines (peel them and they look like little pumpkins!)
  • Melted marshmallows – you can stretch this across the board to act a spider web.

Of course, this is a chance to get creative so whatever you choose, just make the board as spooky as you like!
