Gluten and dairy free Christmas food in Sainsbury’s (updated for 2023)

If you’re looking for gluten and dairy free Christmas food in Sainsbury’s then you’re in for an absolute festive treat.

And there are so many new products launching I’ve already started updating this guide for Christmas 2023.

A good handful of the Sainsbury’s gluten free Christmas foods always seem to come out in August – the first supermarket to launch. But this year it seems to have been a little later!

Sainsbury’s has a great free from range with a mixture of free from and Taste the Difference products in its Christmas line-up.

I’ve already tried a few of these goodies, but here’s my guide to what Christmas food can find that’s gluten free in Sainsbury’s at the moment.

Each year I add the new products as I find them – the newest 2023 finds are at the top and keep scrolling for a look at what was available previous years.

Hopefully those products will be released again in 2024 – I shall update this as and when I find new treats!

Sainsbury’s Free From Frozen Party Food

Ok, so I was sad when Sainsbury’s made a lot of its staple beige foods contain gluten – but kudos to them for these three new, gluten free frozen party foods.

The Mac and Cheese Balls sound INCREDIBLE, and of course I’m very happy to have gluten free Mozzarella Sticks back on the table.

And finally these new Tomato and Mozzarella Arancini Balls sound lovely too – I just hope these stay around for longer than Christmas!

Sainsbury’s free from caramelised chocolate orange cookies

I tried these cookies and I can attest they are VERY good – a lovely orange flavour with big fat chunks of chocolate chips. Be warned if you buy these, they won’t last long.

Sainsbury’s free from turkey and stuffing tortilla curls

Tortilla curls are the absolute best when it comes to crisps and I really loved this new turkey and stuffing flavour ones. Plus they’re vegan – go figure!

Sainsbury’s free from jalapeño poppers

Unfortunately after years of being so, none of the Sainsbury’s mozzarella sticks are gluten free anymore. In fact, these were the only GF party food options I could find so far, but they do sound worth trying and are clearly labelled which is a bonus.

Sainsbury’s gluten free Christmas sandwich

I’m always happy to find a gluten free Christmas sandwich so I was very happy to see that Sainsbury’s have a new turkey feast sandwich to add to the mix. I can’t wait to give this a try – makes a welcome change from the classic cheese and tomato one!

Free From Sticky Toffee Pudding Tarts

Ok, wow, Sainsbury’s really started their festive game STRONG this year! These tarts sound amazing and I think I may have to face-plant a lot of them this year…

Free From Double Chocolate Orange Muffins

The supermarket seems to have released a whole load of new gluten free muffins including these Chocolate Orange Muffins.

A lovely festive edition and I imagine they would be AMAZING slightly warm too!

Sainsbury’s gluten free mini mince pies

Erm HOW CUTE are these mini gluten free mince pies from Sainsbury’s!?

These are back after launching last year and I absolutely love them.

These gluten and milk free mini mince pies would be perfect for a party or to stock up on for Father Christmas himself…

Free From Ginger and Chocolate Tiffin

I love a festive tiffin and this ginger and chocolate tiffin (which is gluten free and vegan) sounds absolutely delicious.

I’ll definitely be adding this to my shopping trolley next time I head to Sainsbury’s.

Free From Salted Caramel Chocs

I like seeing some variation from just plain dairy free chocolates and these vegan salted caramel chocolates sound lovely.

They also come in really nice Taste the Difference packaging so they look less ‘free from’ and more ‘luxury’, which I love!

Sainsbury’s Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Star Biscuits

Look at these cute little gluten free chocolate chip star biscuits in the free from aisle at Sainsbury’s this year.

These look like they’d be great for kids and even though I haven’t seen inside the pack I’m looking forward to trying them.

Sainsbury’s Choc Orange and Honeycomb Slab Bar

These slabs of chocolate seem to have become a bit of a ‘thing’ in recent years so it’s nice to see this gluten free and vegan options.

The flavours sound great and I love the orange segments – maybe they could think about a gluten free Terry’s replacement next!? *crosses fingers*

Sainsbury’s Gluten Free Ginger Spiced Cookies

I absolutely love a ginger cookie – and I’m loving all the new ginger-themed products this Christmas season.

These spiced ginger cookies from Sainsbury’s sound amazing – they’re gluten free and have yummy chunks of stem ginger in too. Gimme.

Sainsbury’s Free From Salted Tree Tortilla Chips

I’m all for the savoury snacks so these gluten free tortilla chip trees will be a must on my festive party platter!

Crisps and dips is my absolute weakness when it comes to an evening snack, and even better when the crisps are shaped like Christmas trees.

Sainsbury’s Free From Spiced Ginger Crumble Slices

These spiced ginger crumble slices are a new addition for 2022 in the Sainsbury’s free from Christmas range.

With a biscuit base, mincemeat topping and a spicy crumble they sound amazing.

And they’re gluten and dairy free – I’ve snapped a box to try already!

Sainsbury’s Free From Chocolate Orange Brownie Slices

It’s always nice to see a variation from the standard gluten free brownie and these chocolate orange brownies sound deliciously festive.

I love the little pieces of orange peel on top and think they’d be a great treat with a coffee.

Sainsbury’s Taste The Difference Cherry & Chocolate Tiffin

You can’t beat a good festive tiffin and this one sounds lovely with chunks of cherry.

I love seeing the new Taste the Difference gluten free treats and this cherry and chocolate tiffin is also vegan.

Schär Spekulatius biscuits

These spekulatius biscuits from Schär were a huge hit last year and I’m pleased to see them back again, this time in Sainsbury’s.

Previously they were only in Asda so it’ll be good to see if they pop up anywhere else.

Apparently they’re just like Lotus Biscoff – I really enjoyed them so am looking forward to grabbing some again this year before Christmas ends.

Schär gluten free Lebkuchen

THIS IS NOT A DRILL – THE GLUTEN FREE LEBKUCHEN ARE BACK!

My faves Schär have once again made Christmas come early by bringing back these festive classics for a fourth year running.

I think their launch in 2019 was my happiest Christmas yet so I will once again be stocking my ‘gluten free snack box’ with a year’s supply.

I’m hoping this is a sign of good things to come as more party food starts to appear.

Free From Mini Christmas Millionaire Cupcakes

I love a themed mini cupcake and these Free From Christmas Millionaire Cupcakes from Sainsbury’s look right up my street!

They’d look fantastic on a part platter with a mixture of caramel and chocolate frosting.

They’re gluten free and I’ll definitely be stocking up on these bite-sized treats!

Turkey breast joint with stuffing

I love an accidentally gluten free find and this turkey breast joint with pork stuffing has no gluten and no ‘may contain’ warnings.

I found it in the frozen aisle and could be a good one to stock up on if you want to get organised.

Taste the Difference Free From Chocolate and Cherry Tarts

I think these new gluten and dairy free chocolate and cherry tarts might become my favourite Christmas product ever.

I love finding free from treats which are brand new and these sound fantastic.

With dark chocolate and cherry liqueur, these are a proper grown-up treat and would be a great after dinner mini dessert!

Free From Caramel Apple Crumble Slices

I’m loving the apple-themed products in the Sainsbury’s free from range and to be honest these sound great for autumn.

I love apple crumble, and I love caramel, so bunging them in one cake slice is the dream.

These are gluten and dairy free and honestly I cannot wait to try them.

Free From Mince Pie Chocolate Brownie Slices

I know I’m not the biggest brownie champion but I do love a themed brownie when it’s done well!

I actually have a recipe for gluten free mince pie brownies in my Christmas ebook so I can’t wait to see how these compare.

They’re gluten free and milk free and look like they’d be great warm served with custard or brandy cream.

NOMO Reindeer

Ok HOW cute are these new vegan reindeer from NOMO, filled with gluten, dairy and egg free cookie dough!?

I bought these to try and found them *very* sweet but a good addition for those who want some different chocolate treats.

Plus it’s nice to see something with cookie dough in that is gluten free and vegan!

Taste the Difference Free From Apple Crumble Cookies

Erm ok I already know without even opening these that I will eat about 3,000 boxes before Christmas.

I love anything apple but the idea of these lightly spiced cookies with apple pieces just sounds like heaven.

I’m gonna go as far as to say watch this space because I may even try and make my own!

Taste the Difference Free From Chocolate & Clementine Shortbread

I feel like chocolate orange is going to be big news this Christmas and it all starts with these tasty sounding shortbreads!

Gluten free shortbread is a must at Christmas and these sound lovely.

Orange flavoured shortbread with Belgian chocolate chips – where could you go wrong!?

NOMO Caramel Filled Choc Drops

NOMO is definitely one of my favourite dairy free chocolate brands and these vegan and gluten free treats look divine.

Dairy free chocolate drops filled with caramel – sounds like the ultimate treat to me.

I think these might be part of the Christmas range but either way, you can find them in Sainsbury’s free from aisle.

Sainsbury’s gluten free chocolate orange cookies and cream

The gluten free world went nuts when Tesco introduced chocolate orange cookies and cream to their Christmas line-up last year.

And after making them a permanent fixture, it seems Sainsbury’s has followed suit.

The new Oreo-style chocolate orange cookies appear to be part of their Christmas range for 2020.

Sainsbury’s gammon and honey tortilla curls

This was actually the first Christmas food I bought in 2020 and I’m so pleased about my choice!

These gluten and milk free tortilla curls are amazing and perfect for any Christmas party platter!

Lightly salted Christmas tree tortilla chips

Another festive crisp choice here and one which I’ll definitely have to stock up on.

It’s all about the savoury treats for me and crisps and dip is my weakness – these sound perfect for Christmas gatherings!

Gluten free Christmas cake bites

I do love Christmas cake but sometimes it’s a bit too much for me.

Which is why these gluten free Christmas cake bites are perfect!

Just the right amount of festive cheeriness in each bite – and perfect for Christmas nibbles.

White Rabbit The Vegan Festive Feast pizza

White Rabbit do hands down the BEST gluten free pizzas out there in UK supermarkets.

So I was very excited to spot this brand new festive vegan addition to their range in Sainsbury’s!

With vegan turkey, vegan cheese, winter veg, pumpkin puree and cranberries this gluten free pizza sounds right up my street.

Moo Free Original Santa and White Snowman chocs

I love seeing individual Christmas treats like these which would be perfect for children with allergies or coeliac disease!

These vegan, dairy free and gluten free chocolates look like a lovely stocking filler or festive treat.

I found them in the free from aisle in Sainsbury’s and I love the funky new Moo Free rebrand as well!

Sainsbury’s free from choc, cherry & amaretto cookies

These gluten free choc, cherry and amaretto cookies from Sainsbury’s sound divine! They look like a proper grown-up treat and I love the snazzy new-look packaging too. These would make a lovely festive treat, perfect for a party platter or giving as a gift.

Free from cookie & shortbread selection

I absolutely love a selection box and this cookies and shortbread selection box from Sainsbury’s sounds fantastic. The perfect mix of gluten free treats and great to stock up on for when you have family over or to give as a gift. The double chocolate ones look incredible.

Gluten free cranberry and orange mince pies

I am a HUGE mince pie fan but these gluten free cranberry and orange mince pies from Sainsbury’s look extra special! I love the pink dusting on top and the fact they’re a large, open-style mince pie. I found these in the free from aisle and am looking forward to trying them!

Sainsbury’s ginger tiffin bites

These cute and sparkly little ginger tiffin bites from Sainsbury’s are gluten, wheat and dairy free and they look super festive. They’d be a great addition to a party spread, or just scoff the lot while you’re enjoying a festive evening at home!

Violife festive dairy free cheese platter

How good is this festive cheese platter from Violife? It’s all dairy free and includes mature, smoked and garlic & chilli dairy free cheeses. Definitely stock up on this – I found it in Sainsbury’s chilled free from aisle.

Sainsbury’s dairy free chocolate Santas

How cute are these! They’re gluten and dairy free and only £1 each so would make the perfect stocking fillers. I found them in the Christmas aisle in Sainsbury’s with the ‘normal’ chocolates.

Sainsbury’s gluten free gingerbread snowman

Another super cute new product! These little gingerbread snowmen in the free from aisle in Sainsbury’s would make a lovely present for a kid and are gluten and dairy free.

Sainsbury’s gluten free mince pies

Sainsbury’s have both an iced and pastry-topped gluten free mince pie, so there’s definitely something for everyone to enjoy!

Sainsbury’s vegan mini choc gingerbread people

Ah how cute are these little gingerbread people? They’re gluten free and vegan – I found them in the free from aisle in Sainsbury’s with the other Christmas food.

Rhythm 108 Chocolate Orange bar

If you’re missing Terry’s Chocolate Orange, you’re going to love this gluten free and vegan Swiss dark chocolate and orange bar from Rhythm 108. Found in the free from aisle in Sainsbury’s.

Mini cheese and bacon shells

These mini cheese and bacon shells from Sainsbury’s sound delicious. I found them in the chilled party food season and I’ll definitely have to stock up!

Mini Thai salmon fishcakes

These are a really different idea for Christmas party food and sound amazing – these mini Thai salmon fishcakes are gluten free too!

Loaded BBQ jackfruit rostis

It’s brilliant to see some gluten free and vegan party food – most seems to be cheese or meat based! These BBQ jackfruit loaded rostis sound super interesting.

Firecracker chicken wings

Good news for spice fans, these firecracker chicken wings are gluten free, woohoo!

Dairy free Christmas cheeses

These gluten and dairy free cheeses would be fantastic for a cheeseboard. I love the festive packaging – there are blue cheese and cranberry options. Found in the chilled free from aisle.

Gluten free pork, cranberry and apple stuffing

I’ve really become a fan of fruit in savoury foods this year, when I always used to hate it! This gluten free pork, cranberry and apple stuffing sounded really interesting.

Gluten free pigs in blankets

Confession: I actually ate this pack about an hour before writing this post! They were so tasty – perfect on the dinner table, or my favourite is on cocktail sticks as part of a party platter! They also had chipolatas wrapped in bacon too, but these would be my sausage side of choice.

Gluten free pork, sage and onion stuffing balls

From what I can see, all of the stuffing and Taste the Difference sausage ranges are gluten free, which is great news. These look really cute and would be great on the dinner table on Christmas day. Pork, sage and onion is a classic combo, and they come in packs of 12 or 20.

British pork sausagemeat

The Taste the Difference sausagemeat is clearly labelled as gluten free, so if you want to make your own stuffing then do make sure you pick this up from the chilled aisle!
