If you’re looking for a sweet snack which is relatively healthy and super refreshing on a hot day, look no further than these Frozen Strawberry Yoghurt Bites.

These simple frozen fruit yoghurt bites are so easy to whip up, all you need is Greek yoghurt, strawberries, honey and chocolate.

They are gluten free and easy to adapt to be dairy free and vegan too – plus you can customise them with your favourite fruits to make lots of flavours.

And if you love a frozen treat, why not team them up with my Lemon Ice Lollies, my easy Frozen Raspberry Yoghurt or even my Strawberry Cheesecake Ice-Cream.

Why make this recipe?

  • Healthy Summer Snack: With fruit and Greek yoghurt, these frozen bites are a great healthy alternative to ice-cream and still hit the sweet spot.
  • Gluten Free: These are naturally gluten free and 100% safe for people with coeliac disease, as long as you follow my tips to pick gluten free chocolate.
  • Super Adaptable: Mix up the flavours and try this recipe with raspberries, mango, pineapple, cherries – or any of your favourite fruits.
  • Great for Kids: Children will love making these and they’ll love eating them even more. A great summer holiday activity for the whole family.

Ingredients and Substitutions

You only need four ingredients to make these simple strawberry frozen yoghurt bites:

  • Strawberries: Of course these are frozen strawberry yoghurt bites – but you can make frozen yoghurt fruit bites of any kind! My other favourites include using raspberries, peach, mango or blueberries.
  • Greek Yoghurt: I use the Fage 0% Fat Greek Yoghurt because it’s super thick and creamy. But any thick, Greek yoghurt will work. To make a vegan version, choose a thick coconut or soya yoghurt instead.
  • Honey: This adds sweetness to the yoghurt bites. You can omit this for a lighter version or use maple syrup instead to keep it vegan.
  • Chocolate: Always be sure to pick a gluten free chocolate and one which doesn’t have any ‘may contain’ warnings. I tend to use the Dr Oetker baking chocolates which are gluten free. For this recipe I’ve used milk chocolate but white or dark chocolate work too. Or a mixture of all three!

How to make frozen yoghurt bites

This recipe is so simple and there is a printable recipe card below if you want to keep it and store it for a later date.

To make this frozen strawberry yoghurt bites recipe:

Mixing the ingredients together for frozen yoghurt bites.

1. Hull the strawberries and then roughly chop them – I like them in relatively small chunks, but you can make them more ‘pulpy’ depending on what you prefer. Add the strawberries, Greek yoghurt and honey to a bowl.

2. Mix everything together well then spoon the mixture into 10 ‘bites’ onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Place this in the freezer and freeze for at least 5 hours (or overnight) – you want them to be solid before coating them!

Freeze the yoghurt bites then coat in chocolate.

3. When ready, melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30 second blasts (or in a bowl over hot water). One-at-a-time, coat the frozen yoghurt bites by dipping them in the bowl, turning with a fork to coat, then placing them back on the baking sheet.

4. Freeze again before eating so the chocolate sets completely. I recommend taking them out of the freezer approx 10 minutes before eating so they can soften a little!

Variations

Want to make frozen yoghurt bites but with your own twist? Here are some ideas for other great combinations:

  • Mango White Chocolate: Switch the strawberries for an equal quantity of finely diced mango then coat them in white chocolate. Think Solero vibes.
  • PB Chocolate Chip: Instead of fruit, add chocolate chips to these frozen Greek yoghurt bites and a generous spoonful of peanut butter.
  • Raspberry Yoghurt Bites: I love these with both raspberries and strawberries. Raspberry pairs really well with white chocolate and dark chocolate coatings too.
  • Vegan Frozen Yoghurt Bites: Use a vegan yoghurt such as coconut yoghurt, switch the honey for maple syrup and coat the bites with dark or vegan milk chocolate for a vegan take on this recipe.
  • Mini Yoghurt Bites: For an extra cute, bitesize treat, try freezing the yoghurt in a silicone ice-cube tray. Then grab a bite whenever you feel peckish!
