There are, quite simply, LOADS of gluten free places to eat in Camden, London. But out of them all, KERB Food Market is my favourite gluten free haunt. I just love the sizzling sights, sounds and smells of street food, and the fact you can travel around the world in one foodie adventure – all at one market!

And the best thing? There are so many signs shouting ‘gluten free’ (and quite a few ‘dairy free’ too!) that makes KERB a really easy place to find gluten free food in London. And if you’re not visiting the Camden area, you can check out these other great gluten free places to eat in London here.

I’ve probably missed loads of places off of the list, and I am sure there are dozens of other gluten free places to eat in Camden I could add. But to start you off on your gluten free adventure around KERB, here are seven places you have to visit for gluten free food when you’re in Camden’s KERB Market.

Halloumi Fries at Oli Baba’s

HALLOUMI FRIES GLUTEN FREE CAMDEN LONDON 1

The Holy Grail of Camden! I’ve got a bit of a love affair with these halloumi fries from Oli Baba’s, not least because they’re gluten free! I first spotted them on Refrain From The Grain (check her out, her food photos will make you DROOL) and was desperate to try them.

It took me not one, not two, but three visits to track them down (the first was when Camden was on fire, the second the market was closed for a refurb – talk about bad luck!) These crispy chunks of fried halloumi are just incredible, topped with fresh mint, sumac, pomegranate, chilli and yoghurt. You absolutely must try them!

Maize Blaze

Right next door to Oli Baba’s is the wonderful Maize Blaze. Their colourful stand is entirely gluten free, serving up Columbian street food. You can get all sorts of tasty treats here, and I love the look of the Colombian Marching Box. This comes with chicken breast, paprika chorizo, sautéed mini potatoes, sweet fried plantain, garlic rice, slow-cooked red bans, guacamole and salad.

You can also pick up a chorizo or chicken asado, which comes with sautèed potatoes or garlic rice, as well as the ‘lean mean vegan machine’. Of course, you can also treat yourself to extra fried plantain and guacamole!

Stakehaus

If you love steak, you’ll absolutely adore Stakehaus. I actually first discovered this amazing stand at the Southbank winter market, but their regular haunt is at Kerb, where you can find them seven days a week.

Imagine the most incredible, tender, beautifully-seasoned pink steak on top of salted rosemary fries and you’ve found the best gluten free lunch ever (if you’re a meat eater like me!). Their Classic One is gluten free – and it’s so much more than steak and chips.

Arepa

I heard the guys at Arepa cheerful singing before I saw them! They may be tucked away in the corner of Kerb market, but their stall is like a burst of sunshine. I haven’t had a chance to try them yet as I only discovered them recently (and right after I had eaten, so I was too full for any more food!).

Their stall is emblazoned with a massive ‘gluten free’ sign. Arepa serve up gluten free corn bread with all sorts of tasty, Venezuelan street foods, including beef and vegetarian options.

Makatcha

As you walk past the Makatcha stand you won’t be able to resist stopping – the smell of the Indonesian rendang is just heavenly! Bubbling away in giant pans you’ll find beef, pulled chicken and a vegan rendang – made with mushrooms and chickpeas.

This Indonesian dish is a mixture of coconut, lemon grass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves and all sorts of other fragrant spices. It’s served up with rice and fresh vegetables and honestly it divine. Perfect for a cold day!

Pad Thai Noodle

I found this Pad Thai Noodle stand tucked away in a corner of Kerb Camden, but the smells coming from the stand were amazing! I was so pleased to see a sign saying their noodles were gluten and dairy free!

They served up a variety of different Pad Thai noodles, made with tamarind, fish sauce, tofu, egg and peanuts. I loved watching the rice-noodle dishes being cooked right in front of me, and there was certainly a very hungry queue!

Sonita’s curries

There were a wide range of dishes on offer at Sonita’s Kitchen, which was serving up delicious-looking Indian food. The best bit? All of the curries are gluten, dairy, nut and sugar free, and proudly say they contain #nojunk.

There are meat and seafood curries on offer in a regular or large box, as well as vegan options including mixed vegetable curry and mushroom and chickpea. I loved the funky branding on this stall and can’t wait to try some of their curries next time I return.

  1. Great post Sarah! Camden has long been a great place for a variety of gluten free food but given frequent changes in which stalls are trading this roundup is very, very handy. Now all we need is for this to be the first result Google gives when folks search for Camden Gluten Free 😛
