Where can you buy gluten free food online in the UK?

The UK seems to have gone nuts at the moment, with everyone panic-buying things they don’t need. 

And now that we’re in lockdown, it’s more important than ever to turn to online food delivery services rather than unnecessarily going out of the house when you don’t need to.

The problem being, however, that supermarket deliveries are ridiculously booked up.

I can’t get anything delivered until mid April and as I’m classed as ‘extremely vulnerable’ I also can’t go out of the house to get anything. 

So now I’m looking to a new way of shopping – and hopefully supporting smaller businesses at the same time!

Where else can you buy free from food in the UK?

I know a lot of other people are struggling to get hold of the basics, so I wanted to put together a resource to try help anyone struggling to find free from foods.

This list is by no means inclusive but I hope it will help a little!

There are loads of great free from businesses online and now might just be the perfect time to find a new gluten free food you love.

Gluten free flour and baking kits

One thing people are really struggling to get hold of is gluten free flour.

Big suppliers like FREEE by Doves Farm and Shipton Mill have paused orders due to an influx of new customers.

So now is the time to turn to smaller companies and seek out alternatives.

And if you can’t find something like gluten free bread, this is a great time to try a kit and bake your own too!

Glebe Farm

As well as selling gluten free cereals and gluten free oat milk, Glebe Farm is selling bags of gluten free flour too! One of the few places which seems to have any stock currently.

Delicious Alchemy

Delicious Alchemy is selling its baking kits online – they do a variety of gluten free bakes including gluten free bread mixes and cake and brownies mixes too.

Freee by Doves Farm

Freee by Doves Farm has seen such a surge in orders, they are currently only selling this one basket of goodies.

Their current online shop is closed until November 2 so I’m wondering if they’ll bring back the ‘gluten free boxes’ again.

In the meantime I managed to get a 16kg bag of their flour from a local wholesalers so it’s worth checking out if you have one nearby.

Davina Steel

I’m a huge fan of the Davina Steel gluten free baking kits (the focaccia and pizza base kits are a fave in our house) so if you haven’t tried them yet, get on it!

They’re also offering 10% off at the moment and have an awesome new range of gluten free baked treats – sweet and savoury.

Isabel’s Free From

Isabel’s Free From was one of the first free from brands I fell in love with and I’m only to happy to direct people their way! The pizza base mix and the dough balls are amazing and you can buy handy bundles online too, including gluten free Yorkshire puddings, waffles and donut ball mixes.

Novo Farina

I discovered Novo Farina when they contacted me on Twitter and their products sound really interesting!

They’re sending out orders of pea flour, including a new Simpleas snack range and gluten free mixes for pizza bases, breadcrumbs and batter.

Oast to Host

Oast to Host do a lovely range of gluten free cakes, but they’re also selling their gluten free pastry flour, cake flour and party packs online.

This is a great way to get into some home baking and I’ve heard very good things about their gluten free flours too!

All Mine Cakes

All Mine Cakes are a lovely-looking little company who are selling their gluten free Victoria Sponge and chocolate cake mixes online. Perfect for a spot of online baking!

Gluten free ready meals

For a lot of people, having gluten free ready meals to hand is a saviour. It can be a bit tricky to know where to go to stock your freezer, however I’ve found a few companies worth checking out!

Mitch’s Kitchen

Mitch’s Kitchen offers a lovely range of gluten free ready meals – and they’re all vegan too! I tried these last year and was really impressed, plus they’re a lovely couple. If you need something for the freezer, these are certainly worth trying.

Chef Akilla 

I was sent some Chef Akila products to try last year and was so impressed! Their curries are all gluten free and they have some vegan and vegetarian options too. These are honestly as good as an authentic takeaway, and I think I’ll be buying some for the freezer. 

Voakes Free From

Craving pastry? Voakes Free From are selling a range of gluten free pastries, quiches and pies on their website and it’s all gluten and wheat free at the moment. It can all be ordered online ready to eat and be frozen as well.

Soupologie

Soupologie contacted me to let me know they are sending out boxes of soup via mail order, and it’s all gluten and dairy free. They have a great range of flavours and you can freeze them too!

Nowt Poncy

If you’re after some ready made sauces to get you through, check out Nowt Poncy. They have a yummy range of gluten free pasta, pizza and curry sauces and they can all be ordered online.

Thornleys Natural Foods

Another great place to shop for sauces is Thornleys, where you can get a whole range of mixes! From cheese sauce to pasta bake recipes, there’s lots of choice!

Gluten free pasta

I know gluten free pasta is the one thing people have been really struggling to get hold of! I couldn’t find a lot of choice online, but here are a few bits I spotted.

Gluten Free Foods Ltd

This online store, Gluten Free Foods Ltd, seems to have a random selection of gluten free pastas so might be worth a look if you can’t find any in supermarkets. Lots of alternative shapes too!

Gluten free bread and cakes

We all need a little sweet treat in our lives, so being able to get hold of some mail order gluten free cakes can always help to cheer us up!

Here are a few of the companies I found doing online cake deliveries.

Mannadew

I was kindly gifted some of Mannadew’s pastry and after hearing about them from my London friends for months, I can confirm they’re worth the hype!

The pastries come in a range of sweet and savoury and they now do nationwide delivery.

Trust me it’s worth the cost, these might be THE most incredible thing I’ve ever eaten.

Goodness Grains

I’ve heard a few people rave about Goodness Grains – an Irish company which delivers gluten free bakes treats to the UK as well.

Their subscription box includes Danish pastries, bread and croissants. Sounds pretty amazing!

Wildcraft Bakery

Wildcraft Bakery in Leeds has had to close its shop so has switched to online delivery.

The range includes gluten free bread, cakes, scones, cookies and pastries, and it all looks amazing!

Wheat Free Bakery Direct

I know Wheat FreeBakery Direct has always been popular – they are delivery on a first come, first serve basis due to such a high volume of orders. But given the incredible range of gluten free cakes and bread, I can see why they’re so popular!

B-Tempted 

I’ve been a fan of B-Tempted for a long time, and they do some cracking gluten free cakes. You can now buy their range online and I highly recommend the friands as they’re incredible!

Lottie’s Bakehouse

I’ve seen people raving about Lottie’s Bakehouse before, and the gluten free bakes by post could be a life-saver. There’s a whole range of treats available from traybakes to scones!

Honeybuns 

Honeybuns do some delicious bakes and are now taking online orders too! Place an order for their gluten free cakes or traybakes and enjoy self-isolation with a bit of indulgence. 

Elizabeth D Bakes

I’ve tried these cakes from Elizabeth D Bakes before and they’re amazing! You can order her gluten free cakes online and they’re an absolute treat! Plus all readers can get an exclusive 15% discount PLUS free shipping for the month of April! Just use GFBLOGGER at the checkout!

The Muffinery

The Muffinery do an online shop for gluten free and vegan savoury muffins. These sound like a lovely idea for something a bit different. Certainly would be good for gluten free lunches!

Lovemore Foods

Love cakes? Lovemore do some fab options from cakes and biscuits to apple pies – there’s even gluten free cakes you can decorate yourself! Check out their website to find out what you can get delivered to your door.

Gluten free sausages and burgers

Sometimes all you need is meat, right!? These companies deliver gluten free sausages and burgers, so you can still get ready for a BBQ while self-containing in your own home!

The Meatbox Company

I actually did some work with The MeatBox Company over the summer but I was so impressed with their gluten free range!

All of their meat is farmed sustainably, it’s great quality and arrives flash frozen so it’s perfect for stocking up in bulk.

They do nationwide next day delivery and I can’t recommend them enough – plus loads of their gluten free sausages and burgers are on sale right now.

Primal Cut

I was contacted by Primal Cut who offer an amazing range of gluten free sausages! They do all sorts of flavours from currywurst to chorizo, and they sound fab! Definitely check out their online shop.

Heck

Heck has reduced its variety online due to high demand, however you can still get gold of the pork sausages, chicken Italia sausages and the plant-based goodies.

Other gluten free online stores

As well as all of the above, it might be worth checking out some of these online retailers for some general bits and pieces too…

My Free From Kitchen

My Free From Kitchen offers a range of gluten free products to order which change regularly depending on stock. It could be worth having a look to see what you can find on there.

FODmarket

Online retailer FODmarket sells lots of low-FODMAP goods including many gluten free ones. There may be some delay on deliveries but it’s worth checking them out.

JUBEL beer
