Being able to go out to a restaurant and eat pizza has always seemed like a far flung dream of mine….

Until now.

When I wandered over to the menu board at the front of Bella Italia in Bournemouth, I couldn’t believe they were offering gluten free pizza bases and pasta.

Those wonderful, wonderful words!

Making the quickest decision I’d ever made on where to eat lunch, I dragged Steve in and sat at a table, my legs fidgeting in childish excitement.

Although I was excited by the idea of gluten free pasta, it had always been my dream to eat pizza in a restaurant, and on that choice, I was adament!

The problem was, however, choosing a topping….

To save problems in trying to decipher what sauces and toppings are gluten free, Bella Italia provide a separate gluten free menu on request, which definitely gave them a double thumbs up from me!

I eventually opted for the Speck E Rucola, with smoked ham, rocket and smoked mozzarella topping.

Of course, I had to add extra pepperoni though!

Waiting for my pizza to arrive felt like an age, but Bella Italia have honestly made my dream come true.

Let’s just take a moment to savour that joyous moment my pizza arrived……

The pizza of my dreams!

It really was DELICIOUS!

The base was thin and crispy – a little difficult to cut with my knife and fork – but was a great texture!

I really love the crusts of pizzas (odd, because a lot of people don’t!?) so it was great to have a real crispy edge!

The topping was ever so tasty, and a really generous portion too!

Overall, Bella Italia have won my heart – I;m just devasted that I discovered this little gem right at the end Uni – we don’t have one at home! 🙁

  1. I ate at this Bella Italia in Bournemouth and was equally impressed. I even remembered to send a thank you email to them after my trip (I always try to encourage anywhere which caters well for gluten free)!

    1. That is a good idea – I shall have to send a thankyou email myself! Although their Twitter people picked up my review which is good! Just wish I had discovered it in my first year of uni, rather than the end of my final year!! I shall be back! 🙂

  2. Went to the Cambridge branch after reading this review and was really excited to try it. Had a small mouthful and realised they had given me a normal pizza, not a gluten free one! I’d suggest you double check it’s gluten free before you eat any like I did.
