One of the things I was most excited about when I visited London this weekend was getting the opportunity to finally try out the new gluten free sandwiches in Starbucks!

I have long been hearing about these sandwiches, made with Genius bread and launched last year, but living in a somewhat Starbucks desert I have been unable to try them….until now!

Finally we meet, Starbucks sarnie...

Sat on a sunny bench in Southbank, I took in the (suprisingly) warming winter rays whilst gazing upon my equally sunny-looking sandwich.

This mediterranean inspired sandwich is packed with roast chicken, spinach leaves, pesto mayo and sundried tomatoes served on Genius bread.

Due to the good weather, I had taken mine out, costing £2.95, but eating in was a little expensive at £3.55!

However, this was cheaper than the new Marks and Spencer sandwiches (see review here!) and appeared to be bigger, though still smaller than a “normal” sandwich – I think I may just have to get used to this by now.

It's making my mouth water all over again...

The sandwiches looked packed full of filling, so without further ado, I ripped open the packaging and tucked in!

I can honestly say, this is one of THE best gluten-free sandwiches I have ever had!

The sandwich was filled just the perfect amount and the sandwich was moist and didn’t crumble or break apart at all!

The chicken was moist, the pesto mayo and sundried tomatoes were bursting with flavour and the spinach complimented the filling perfectly.

Even the size is pretty generous

Starbucks changed to this flavour, replacing the original tuna-mayo sandwich that begain their gluten free products.

Persoanlly, I think that this is the best move they could have made!

Don’t get me wrong, I love tuna-mayo, and sometimes I just crave the normalties of eating gluten and simple sandwiches.

But it’s amazing, for once, to be able to eat something a bit fancy when I go out!

I’m no longer confined to the no-dressing, no-nothing salad – I can eat something a bit more elegant and adventurous and the taste is amazing!

Great texture, amazing taste, loads of filling – I definitely give Starbucks 10/10 for this sandwich.
